I attended the Platoon Leader Candidate Course (PLC-Combined) from June-August 1967 
Quantico, VA
After graduation from Quincy College, I returned to Quantico to attend The Basic School, Class 1-69 (Officer) from July to December 1968.

I then was assigned to the Motor Transport Officer Course (Class 5-69). 
Camp LeJeune NC
After graduation I was assigned to the 1st Bn, 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, FMF and served as the S-2 (Intelligence Officer) for the Battalion. I was later assigned to Co C as a rifle platoon leader and even later was assigned as the Battalion Motor Transport Officer.

Republic of Viet Nam

I was transferred to Co C, 3rd Motor Transport Bn, where I served as a Truck Platoon Commander in Viet Nam, Okinawa and later aboard ship with Battalion Landing Team 2/9 I returned to Okinawa (Camp Schwab) and later sailed on the USS Point Defiance, and the USS Thomaston. Both were Landing Ship Dock (or LSD)'s. We were stationed off the coast of Viet Nam, but also conducted training at Subic Bay Naval Base in the Phillippines.
After my tour was up, I was transferred to the 2nd Marine Division   where I served as the Assistant Division Motor Transport Officer and later served with the 2nd Motor Transport Bn as C Company Executive Officer and later as Battalion Administrative (S-1) Officer/Adjutant

I was discharged from the Corps in June of 1971.
After a 9 year break in service, I joined the Illinois Army National Guard
