Me, circa 1984-1987 I was commander of this great unit for 38 months

This is a picture of the 126th Supply and Service Company at the time they were deployed to Germany for Reforger 87 (REturn of FORces to GERmany).  This was the largest (Corps Level) movement of troops to Germany during the cold war.

Almost 100 soldiers from this unit (including some volunteers from other units in the Battalion) were sent from St. Louis,Mo to Amsterdam, Netherlands by air where they joined up with their equipment that had been sent by ship.

The unit then convoyed from Rotterdam, Netherlands to Mannheim, Germany where they supported the US Army for three weeks, by hauling supplies around Europe.  They returned to Quincy by way of Scott Air Force Base.

(Now for those of you who loves conspiracy theories)- All of the above is a cover story for the "true" story.  The people pictured above are members of a super secret special unit that was responsible for collapse of the Soviet Union and the dismantling of the Berlin Wall.  They were members of the 126th  Subversion and Subterfuge Company (The Brown Berets).   This unit spent three weeks in 1987 planting dissent and fear into the hearts of the specialized units from the Soviet Union which drove around Europe in Tractor Trailers spying on NATO Conveys.  Once they laid eyes on these dedicated professionals their morale collapsed.  Europe and the whole world owes a debt of gratitude to these courageous soldiers. (This account is pure fantasy, intended to be a joke but I can not stop you from believing it if you want to).
